About Chief Vanyo

A 24-year veteran of law enforcement, Matthew holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from David N. Myers University and holds a master’s degree in legal studies from the California University of Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of the 255th session of the FBI National Academy.

Matthew is an Ohio certified law enforcement instructor and use of force instructor, who has taught in several State of Ohio police academies, as well as taught subject control tactics to officers throughout the State of Ohio, including the annual Ohio Tactical Officers Training Conference. Matthew has also taught at the collegiate level at Cuyahoga Community College in the Law Enforcement program.”

He is a member of the International Law Enforcement Educator’s and Training Association, International Associations of Chiefs of Police, Ohio Associations of Chiefs of Police, and the Cuyahoga County Police Chiefs Association.

Matthew has either lived or worked in the Olmsted Township community for the past 31 years. He enjoys exercising, cooking, and reading non-fiction. Matthew is married and the proud father of three.
