Frequently Asked Questions
1. Where is the police department located?
The Olmsted Township Police Department is located at 26900 Cook Road which is on the northwest corner of Fitch Rd. and Cook Rd.
2. My car has been towed away for illegal parking, how do I get it back?
If it is a Police ordered tow, you must come to our Police Station with proof of ownership for your car (bring registration, title, drivers license.) The dispatcher will give you a release to take to the storage yard at Roger’s Towing. If it is a private tow, you may go directly to Roger’s towing yard.
3. Will the Police check on my house while I’m on vacation?
Yes. If you are going on vacation, stop at the Police Station and fill out a vacation form. The Police will then check your residence daily and nightly while you are away.
4. I need to be fingerprinted, does the Police Department do that?
Yes, whether you are a resident or not. We will print you or your children. This is a free service of your Police Department. Call the Station for an appointment 440-235-53335, or if need be just stop in. Bring a valid picture ID such as a drivers license.
5. How do I get a copy of a motor vehicle accident report or an incident report?
Stop in at the station between 8:00am and 6:00pm. Please allow the reporting officer 2-3 days to finish up the report. If an arrest or citation was issued or is pending, the only thing that can be released is a copy of your statement. For a copy of the report you will have to go through the Prosecutor’s office or your attorney unless it is a Motor vehicle accident report which may be released except for statements other than your own.
6. Is it true that when an Officer stops me in my car, I should remain seated in my car and let the Officer approach me?
Yes, for safety reasons for both you and the officer, please remain in your vehicle unless otherwise directed by the Officer and bear in mind that this is a working building.
7. Can we visit the police department to see the facilities?
We would be pleased to show you around provided the personnel and time are available. Please call ahead and check with our dispatcher.
